Bob Klemmedson passed away on 10/24/10 after a long illness. He was 89 years young and an avid glider pilot who began soaring way before it was cool – 1936. His passion extended 8 decades and his laughter will be missed throughout the soaring community.

Bob held Diamond Badge #55, owned a wide variety of gliders from Pratt-Reids, Skylarks, Std. Cirrus to a Duo-Discuss. He owned #33 of the std. Cirrus and with this glider he traveled the west competing in many a Nationals. He participated in many glider contests, from a 1964 first place in the Soaring aspect of the Reno Air Races to 2002 first place in sports class and many in between. He crewed for Dick Johnson (63-Argentina) and AJ Smith (68 – Poland) in International competitions.

His love for flying and laughter gave birth to some of the best stories told on runways across the west, from Marfa,Texas to Minden, Nevada.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years – Dorothy, son Ron, daughter Kim, four grand children (Betsy, Linne, David, and Merida) and one great grandson (Jake).
