Paul Vincent Fitzgerald, III, 69, of Loudonville, N.Y. and beloved husband of Susan Corbett (Zeronda) Fitzgerald, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, September 10th, 2021.

Born in Reedsville, N.C., he was the son of the late Paul Vincent Fitzgerald, Jr. And Nancy Anne (Brown) Fitzgerald. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1973, and retired from the Navy with the rank of Captain. He earned his bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering while at the U.S. Naval Academy, a masters equivalent in nuclear technology while in the Navy, and an MBA from Furman University. He served his active service commission on nuclear submarines in the Atlantic, including the USS Sunfish and USS James Monroe. After his active service, he held executive positions nationally in manufacturing.
At the time of his death, Paul was a principle Project Analyst for the Fluor Marine Propulsion, supporting the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP), and the NNPP Kesselring Onsite Incident Command Casualty and Training Team in Saratoga, New York

He was a gentle man and a gentleman for whom family always came first.
He was an expert chef and a licensed glider, tow plane and IFR rated power pilot. He flew with Adirondack Soaring Club out of Saratoga Springs, NY. Paul owned a DG-100 sailplane for many years and truly enjoyed flying around Saratoga Springs. He was also a member Condair Power Flying Club out of the Albany International Airport. He remained a U.S. Naval Academy and Tar Heel fan throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, his children, Kate (Fitzgerald) Scheltinga of Raleigh, NC. and Charlie Fitzgerald of Oakland, CA, his step-children, Nancy (Zeronda) Wuamett of Annapolis, MD, Catherine M.
Zeronda of Denver, CO, and Pin Fitzgerald of Oakland, CA, his sister, Sherry Fitzgerald of Greensboro, NC and five grandchildren.

Funeral services and final internment will be held at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on December 13th.
