Greetings from Hosin ~ Day #12: Got Rain?
Yes we do… This morning we woke to cloudy skies and sprinkles due to a cold front passing slowly though the contest area today. This was the first time during the 3 weeks I have been in Hosin where we did not fly due to weather. We have had quite the run of wonderful soaring weather. Quite the change in the temperatures comparing yesterday to today from a high temperature today of 72º with on and off showers compared to yesterday’s high temperature of 95º.
We also had an interesting development over night where the FAI Flag went missing which is not really surprising at this point in the contest. There is a tradition for someone to steal the FAI flag during the contest and not get caught returning it before the closing ceremonies. Rick Sheppe (Jury President from the USA) explained the situation and why the contest is ON HOLD until the flag is returned at today’s briefing.

There was a lot of rain dropped on the contest area today. It will be interesting to see how the soaring turns out on the last day. Usually, it takes 2 days after a cold front passing for the soaring to be good again in Hosin. Time will tell…
Stay tuned for the last competition day, farewell party, and closing ceremonies insights…
