The Soaring Safety Foundation (SSF) is the Training and Safety arm of the Soaring Society of America (SSA). SSF’s mission is to provide instructors and pilots with the tools needed to teach/learn both the stick & rudder skills and the Aeronautical Decision Making skills needed to safely fly a glider. SSF also provides information and analysis of incident and accident trends in order to develop better training tools.

INCIDENT DATABASE

The searchable Incident Database allows pilots, ground crew, wing runners, and others to look for and identify emerging incident trends and, armed with this knowledge, take actions to prevent other accidents from occurring.

SCENARIO DATABASE

Scenario-Based Training (SBT) is a highly effective method for reducing soaring accidents. This database contains possible accident scenarios for pilots & instructors to discuss and develop mitigation strategies tailored to your local operation.
